Colchester Swimming Club operate a progressive squad structure. Swimmers in the younger squads develop their stroke technique, improve their stamina and speed, whilst working towards achieving ASA Speed Awards at regular time trials.
The Squad criteria are based on the recommendations of the Long Term Athlete Development Programme (LTAD).
Additionally, a standard time for our distance test sets has been put in place for Potential Development and Performance squads to ensure that squad members have the necessary endurance to cope with the training load.

Squad Progression explained
Each of the squad sections detail the minimum requirements for that squad. Progression from one squad to the next will be by approval of the Head Coach. If a squad is full, movement into the squad will be restricted and at the discretion of the Head Coach.
All swimmers must be prepared to represent the club at four (4) Open Meet Competitions a year, compete at Club Championships, County, Regional and National events if the times are secured.
Whilst the overall squad criteria have not changed significantly, squad progression will also be monitored and enforced more closely with regard to training attendance, galas attendance, overall performance and training ethic. Movement between the squads will only be possible by the approval of the Head Coach and when the swimmer's specifc squad criteria have been met.
If you feel that you are unable to meet the criteria for your squad/new squad, you should inform the Head Coach immediately.
